Company History

Blue Ridge Backwoods is Illinois’ premier Outdoor Adventure Pro Shop. Specializing in Archery with a focus on family participation, Blue Ridge Backwoods is a family owned company originally founded by Scott Wiegel and Steve Koss. Opening its doors in July, 2005, in Monticello, IL, it has quickly grown to earn the respect of hunters and archers across the Midwest.

Now in its sixth year of operation, the company is bringing aboard the next generation of archers onto the administrative team.  Eric Koss, Mindy and Jake Romano, daughters and son-in-law of Steve and Kathy Koss, have now taken over management of the store.

Our mission is to provide the best customer experience while ensuring our customers shoot with the confidence of having the best technicians backing their equipment.

Our vision is to grow the sport of Archery and outdoor sports by promoting the participation of families across the country.
