Evans' Archery Under New ManagementBlue Ridge Backwoods, Inc. announces acquisition of Evans' ArcheryFebruary 2, 2005 -- Blue Ridge Backwoods, Inc. today announced the acquisition of Evans' Archery located in Monticello, IL. This business has been operating a successful archery retail store for the past 10 years, catering to the needs of local hunters and target shooters. John Evans, owner of Evans' Archery, stated "This sale will allow Evans' Archery to expand more quickly than we ever could have achieved on our own. I see this as being very good for our customers as we will now be able to stock items that we could only custom order previously - due to the new, larger retail space." Scott L. Wiegel, President of Blue Ridge Backwoods, noted that "I am leading a group of local investors that have been wanting to open an archery shop in Central Illinois. Because of the ideal location between Champaign and Decatur, this group wanted to locate the new business in Monticello. But this would have meant competing in the local market with Evans' Archery. This sale will allow us to build the archery store of our dreams without worrying about competition in the Monticello area - and since all of the current employees have accepted roles in the new business - we can now open the shop with experienced personnel." Blue Ridge Backwoods is currently negotiating for the purchase / lease of retail space in the Monticello area. We expect an announcement on the final location very soon. During the transition period, John Evans will continue to operate the bow shop at the existing location and current hours of operation. Unfortunately, in order to get the new retail space set up Evans' Archery will be closed from April 1, 2005 till the new facility opens.
